MOTHER'S BREADED PORK CHOPS
4 lean pork chops
6 slices dry bread
1 onion, cut up
1 egg, unbeaten
1/2 c. milk
3 tbsp. butter
Salt and pepper
1/4 c. water

Break or cut bread into small pieces. Put pork chops in shallow pan. Salt and pepper chops. Cover the tops of chops with a generous mound of dressing made as follows:

Add 3 tablespoons soft butter to bread cubes. Mix. Add milk and egg. Mix together well. Dressing should be moist. Add chopped onion. Salt and pepper to taste. Put a small amount of water in bottom of pan (adding more, if needed) and baste with drippings during entire baking period.

Bake uncovered at 375 degrees until dressing is browned, 30-35 minutes. Reduce heat to 300 degrees for another hour. Add more water, if needed, during this time. Good hot or cold. Top of dressing is very crusty.
