4 DAY SWEET PICKLES 
5 qts. 1 1/2 to 3 inch cucumbers
1/2 c. salt
8 c. sugar
6 c. vinegar
3/4 tsp. turmeric
2 tsp. celery seed
2 tsp. pickling spice
8 one inch pieces of stick cinnamon
Glass gallon jar or crock

Day 1 A.M.: Wash and place pickles in gallon jar or crock. Cover pickles with boiling water. P.M. Drain, and cover with fresh boiling water.

Day 2 A.M. Drain and cover with fresh boiling water. P.M. Drain; add salt; cover with fresh boiling water.

Day 3 A.M. Drain. Prick pickles with fork. Make syrup with 3 cups sugar, 3 cups vinegar, turmeric and spices. Heat to boiling and pour over pickles. P.M.: Drain syrup into pan; add 2 cups sugar and 2 cups vinegar heat and pour over pickles.

Day 4 A.M.: Drain syrup into pan add 2 cups sugar, 1 cup vinegar and heat to boiling pour over pickles. P.M.: Drain syrup into pan add remaining cup of sugar, heat to boiling. Pack pickles into hot jars cover with hot syrup. Process 5 minutes in boiling water bath.
