CHRISTMAS BUTTER COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1/2 c. powdered confectioners' sugar
2 c. flour
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon flavoring
Candied cherries and walnuts, cut in 4ths

Cream butter and sugar until mixture is very light. Add vanilla flavoring and lemon flavoring. Mix well. Add flour gradually. Mix well. Divide mixture and roll into 4 balls. Chill 4 to 5 hours.

Shape dough into 1/2 inch balls and garnish with a piece of candied cherry or nut. Press garnish gently. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until lightly brown on bottom.
