CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE 
3 c. sugar
1/2 lb. butter
1/2 c. shortening
5 eggs
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
4 tbsp. cocoa (optional)

Cream butter and shortening; add sugar and then eggs and cream until light and fluffy. Sift flour (before you measure) then add flour, baking powder, and cocoa. Alternate flour mix and milk and mix at slow speed until well blended. Add vanilla and mix.

Bake in large tube pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour 15 minutes.

For plain pound cake, omit cocoa.
