CRISP SUGARED WALNUTS 
2 1/2 c. California walnuts (halves)
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Place walnut halves in a shallow pan. Heat in 375 degree oven for 15 minutes stirring frequently. Takes walnut halves out of the oven.

Cook sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt to soft ball stage (236 degrees) without stirring. Remove from heat; add vanilla and nuts. Stir gently until the nuts are well coated and the mixture becomes creamy. Turn out on a greased platter. Separate the walnut halves as they cool.
