POPPY SEED LOAF CAKE AND GLAZE 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. poppy seeds
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. half and half (or milk)

Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add poppy seeds, vanilla and eggs. Mix well. Combine dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with half and half, beginning and ending with flour mixture.

Pour batter into greased and floured 8 1/2 x 4 x 3 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove from pan. Pour glaze over cake and cool completely.

GLAZE:

1 c. sifted powdered sugar
Juice of 1 lemon or lime
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Combine and mix well.
