PRIZE DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE | |
2 c. cake flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 2/3 c. butter & other shortening 1 1/2 c. sugar 3 eggs, well beaten 3 sq. Baker's unsweetened chocolate, melted 3/4 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla Sift flour once, measure. Add baking powder and salt and sift together 3 times. Cream butter thoroughly. Add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat well. Add chocolate. Blend. Add flour alternately with milk, a small amount at a time. Beat after each addition until smooth. Add vanilla. Bake in two greased 9 inch layer pans in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 35 minutes. Spread Seven Minute Frosting on tops and sides. |
