QUICK OAT CAKE 
1 c. quick oats

Pour 1 1/2 cups boiling water over. Let stand for 20 minutes.

Mix: 1 c. white sugar 1 c. brown sugar

Cream together. Add 2 eggs and beat.

Add: 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. nutmeg (Dates or raisins if desired)

Bake in a 9x12 inch baking dish at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.

TOPPING:

Bring to a boil: 1/4 c. cream or milk 1 c. brown sugar

Pour over cake as soon as you take it out of the oven. Then put it under the broiler until the top is bubbly and light brown.
