1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 c. applesauce
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. vanilla
1 (6 oz.) chocolate chips
1/2 c. nuts
3 tbsp. sugar

Cream together sugar, shortening and eggs. Add applesauce. Add dry ingredients. Before baking sprinkle chocolate chips, nuts and sugar over batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes in a 9 x 13 inch cake pan.
