MOM'S GERMAN MEAT DISH | |
2 lbs. round steak (1/4 inch thick) 1 tsp. salt & 1/2 tsp. pepper, or season to taste 2 pickles, cut into 8 strips 1 lg. chopped onion 2 tbsp. fat or oil Cut steak into 8 pieces, flatten. Mix onion, salt and pepper. Place one strip of pickle and a portion of the onion mixture on each piece of meat. Roll up and fasten with toothpicks or string. Brown meat in hot fat in a frying pan. Remove meat. Cook meat in pressure cooker (15 minutes at 15 pounds pressure) in a small amount of water or simmer in water in a covered pot for 2 hours or until meat is tender. Remove meat from pot and make gravy from broth. Mom serves this with rice. |
