COFFEE CAKE MUFFINS 
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. chopped nuts
2 tbsp. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. milk

Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. 1 dozen.

Combine brown sugar, nuts, flour, cinnamon, and melted butter. Set aside. Sift dry ingredients into a bowl. Cut in shortening. Combine egg and milk; add to flour mixture. Stir until moistened. Grease muffin tins. Spoon small amount of batter. Add layer of nut mixture. Add more batter and top with wet mixture.
