Cake turned out great. But I only cooked it for 22 mins at 350°F.

Wow, not what I expected. Very moist cake and the flavor is bang on. I didn't use the icing as I'm building a decorative cake. I had to cook the cake at 350°F for 45 min in a rectangular glass pan in a newer digital oven.

Very easy to make and the cake turned out very well, tastes so good and well liked by all. I also had to bake the cake for 45 minutes and reduce the oil to just 3/4 cup. Thank you so much.

The cake is perfect. Very moist. I baked it in a 180°C (350°F) oven for 35 minutes. The top cracked but I covered it up with icing.

Super moist cake. I reduced the oil to 3/4 cup and still had very good results.

Wicked Cake! End of the month. Didn't have the ingredients for the frosting so filled it with cherries from the deep freeze 'coulied' in red berry cordial. Pigged it a night (being two, shame on us. Thanks, Will definitely being doing it again, perhaps next time with friends :)

Yummy! Super moist my nephew who doesn't like chocolate cake is now a lover of chocolate cake. My hubby also loved this cake. Will make again. Rather than the cream cheese frosting, I made a simple chocolate ganache since I used a Bundt cake pan.

Did the people responding actually try the recipe as written? It is inaccurate. The flour should be at least 3 1/2 cups flour for the ratio of liquids. I actually did try the recipe with 4 cups flour and it was good but not outstanding.

This is THE BEST homemade chocolate cake recipe! It's my favorite and I use it at least once a month because I always have these ingredients on hand!

In response to Barbara Brown (California),

Did you actually try this recipe before altering it? Or did you analyze the liquid/solid ratio before starting? This cakes batter was almost like water, but when it went in the oven at 190°C, boy, it was beautiful to behold. 5 stars, and that's an understatement!

This is my first try at baking a cake that wasn't from a box! Followed the recipe exactly and it was easy! Just had a rather large piece (with whipped cream instead of icing) hot from the oven and it was delicious!! Thanks for sharing!

We don't bake often, but wanted to bake a cake for my daughter's birthday. Chocolate cakes can be way too dry so I looked up moist chocolate cake and this is what I found. We were so pleased we won't need to try another! It will seem way too runny at first but comes out of the oven rich and moist and everyone at the party loved it. We didn't try the icing though....we opted for a traditional butter cream icing, which was lovely. I will try this cream cheese icing in the future.
