SHOOFLY CAKE 
3/4 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. molasses (dark Karo syrup)
3 c. flour (if self rising, omit baking powder, salt and 1 tsp. baking soda)
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/3 c. sour cream

Combine first 5 ingredients. Beat medium speed 2 minutes. Mix flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda alternately with sour cream.

Spread 1/3 batter in greased 10 inch tube pan. Sprinkle with 1/3 filling. Repeat twice.

FILLING:

1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. each cloves, nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon

Blend well.
