FAVORITE FRENCH TOAST 
8 slices French bread, 3/4-inch thick
4 eggs
1 c. milk
2 tbsp. orange juice, maple syrup, or grand marnier
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. butter

Arrange bread in single layer in 9x13 baking dish. In bowl beat eggs, milk, orange juice, sugar, vanilla, and salt. Pour over bread. Turn slices to coat evenly. Refrigerate, covered, several hours or overnight. Heat butter in large skillet. Saute bread until golden, about 4 minutes on each side. If desired, sprinkle with confectioners sugar. Makes 4 servings.
