ICEBOX COOKIES 
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
3 c. flour
1 c. nuts
1 tsp. baking soda (dissolved in 1 tbsp. warm water)
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix well. Form in rolls and chill or freeze. Slice with sharp knife. Bake at 350 degrees until brown.
