2 c. Cream of Wheat 2 med. size onions, finely chopped 1 tbsp. butter 1/2 tsp. mustard seed 4 to 5 green pepper (small hot) cut into 1/4 inch slices 2 tsp. coriander leaves, finely chopped 1 tsp. Channa dal, (available in Indian store) 1 tsp. Urad dal (available in Indian store) 2 pinches turmeric powder 1/2 tsp. ginger, chopped fine 2 tsp. cashew nuts, finely chopped (optional) 3/4 c. green peas, cooked 4 tsp. vegetable oil 4 c. water Salt to taste Dry roast cream of wheat until cream of wheat turns light golden brown. Heat the oil in a deep saucepan. Put in the mustard seeds and turmeric powder. After mustard seeds pops put channa dal, urad dal and cashew nuts. After then gets golden brown put green pepper. After green peppers are roasted. Pour water to the pan bring the water to boil. Put half of butter, ginger and salt. Pour slowly the roasted cream of wheat. Keep it on slow fire until cream of wheat is cooked. Put the rest of the butter at the end and mix the uppit. Put coriander leaves. If you want you can put in 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice. |
