2 c. potato water (save from making mashed or boiled potatoes) 2 pkg. yeast 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. sugar 1/4 c. oil or butter 5 c. flour (approx.) Proof yeast in potato water with the sugar and salt. Add oil or butter. Begin adding the flour a cup at a time, beating well after each addition until dough is easy to handle. Knead well, adding flour if necessary. Let rise until doubled in bulk, punch down, let rise until doubled, punch down again. Make into buns, let rise until doubled in bulk. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. |
