CHILI CON CARNE 
1 lb. ground beef
1 lg. onion, chopped (1 c.)
1 green pepper, chopped (3/4 c.)
1 can tomatoes, cut up (1 lb. 13 oz.)
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 (1 lb.) can red kidney beans, drained
1 tsp. salt
1 to 2 tsp. chili powder
1 bay leaf

In heavy skillet, cook meat, onion and green pepper until meat is lightly browned and vegetables tender. Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, kidney beans, salt, chili powder, and bay leaf. Cover and simmer 1 hour. Remove bay leaf. Makes 4 servings.

Double or triple the recipe to serve a large crowd.
