1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
3 eggs (reserve 2 egg whites)
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts, chopped
1 c. brown sugar

Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix first 7 ingredients together. Spread very thin in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. Beat egg whites stiff and add brown sugar. Spread over nuts and bake for 30 minutes. Cut into squares while hot.

Yield: 24 (2-inch) squares.
