LEMON BARS 
Base:

1/3 c. butter
1/3 c. brown sugar
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add flour and nuts and blend until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1/2 cup mixture for topping. Firmly press remainder into a greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.

Bake in a preheated 350°F oven about 12 minutes. Immediately spread cheese filling over base. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture.

Bake 30 minutes longer. Cool. Cut into bars.

Yields 32 bars.

Cream Cheese Filling:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/3 c. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. cream
1 egg

Combine cheese and sugar. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
