SWEET PICKLES 
2 tbsp. salt
1 1/2 tbsp. pickling spice
1 rounded tsp. alum
2 c. vinegar

Wash small to medium size cucumbers and pack in 1/2 gallon jar. Add ingredients. Finish filling jar with cool water. Seal jar. Let stand 2 weeks or as long as one year. When ready to use, drain off liquid; wash cucumbers and slice.

Cover with 4 cups of sugar; let stand until sugar makes syrup. Put into covered container and keep in refrigerator.
