SAVORY LENTIL SOUP 
1 1/2 c. lentils, washed
6 c. cold water
2 stalks celery
1 med. onion
2 sm. carrots
1 1/2 c. cooked tomatoes
2 tbsp. bacon fat (optional)
3 franks or diced ham
Salt and pepper to taste

Wash lentils in cold water, sort and drain. Place in kettle with water and salt. Cover and simmer 45 minutes. Add sliced vegetables and tomatoes, bacon fat, pepper. Simmer 30 minutes. Add franks or ham and simmer 30 minutes.
