OKRA GUMBO 
1/2 lb. sliced bacon
1 lg. onion, chopped
1 can tomatoes
4 lb. okra
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/2 lb. ham

Cut bacon and ham in pieces and fry. Add onion, cook 10 minutes. Be careful not to brown onions too much. Add tomatoes, cut in small pieces, add cut up okra. Add tomato juice and if you desire, add a can of tomato sauce. Cover and cook slowly for an hour.
