BASIC SWEET ROLL DOUGH | |
1/2 c. warm water 2 pkg. dry yeast, dissolved in warm water 1 1/2 c. milk 1/2 c. shortening Bring milk to boil, add shortening and remove from heat. 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 2 eggs, beaten Orange rind and vanilla (optional) Put milk with shortening in a large bowl, add sugar. Cool and add eggs and salt, flavoring if you want. Add and mix with spoon, the flour. Add more if needed to make a stiff dough. Let rise until double in size. Turn out on floured board. Knead and shape into coffee cake or rolls. Let rise. Bake in moderate 350 degree oven until golden brown. |
