FRIED HAM WITH RED EYE GRAVY | |
Sliced ham Leftover coffee Sugar Slice ham about 1/4-inch thick; do not remove the fat. Cook slowly in a heavy frying pan until evenly browned on both sides, turning a few times to prevent burning. Sprinkle each side lightly with sugar during cooking. Remove ham to serving platter and keep warm. To the drippings in the pan, add about 1/2 cup cold water mixed with 2 cups of strong brewed day-old coffee. Allow to boil until gravy turns red. Blend and pour over the ham. |
