CARAMEL OATMEAL CHEWIES 
1 3/4 c. Quaker Oats
1 1/2 c. flour
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. butter
1 c. chopped nuts
1/4 c. water
1 (14 oz.) vanilla caramels
1 (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9 inch pan.

Combine first 5 items. Add butter, mix until crumbly. Reserve 1 cup for topping. Press remaining mixture onto bottom of pan. Bake 10 minutes. Top with nuts and chocolate pieces.

In medium saucepan melt caramels with water over low heat. Stir until smooth. Drizzle over chocolate pieces. Sprinkle with reserved mixture. Bake 15-18 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool. Chill until chocolate is set. Makes 32 bars.
