LIGHT BREAD OR ROLLS | |
6 c. flour, unsifted 1 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. sugar 1/2 c. shortening 1 pkg. yeast Put yeast into 1/2 cup warm water. Add 1 tablespoon sugar. Let stand until yeast begins to rise to top of water. Add sugar and shortening to flour. Mix with enough warm water to soften the shortening. Add yeast mixture and continue to mix, adding enough warm water to make a good dough. Knead dough on floured board until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise until double in bulk (about 45 minutes). Knead dough a little more and shape into rolls. Place in greased pan. Let rise until double in size. Bake at 400 degrees for 20-30 minutes. |
