CAKE DOUGHNUTS 
Vegetable oil
3 1/3 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
2 tbsp. shortening
2 eggs
3/4 c. milk

Heat oil (2-3 inches) in deep fat fryer or heavy kettle to 375 degrees. Beat 1 1/2 cups flour and remaining ingredients in large mixer bowl on low speed. Scrape bowl occasionally. Beat in remaining flour. Turn dough onto well floured cloth-covered board. Roll gently to 3/8 inch thick. Cut into circles. Fry until golden brown in hot oil.
