DATE AND NUT BREAD 
2 c. apple cider
2 c. chopped & pitted dates
2 c. granulated sugar
2/3 c. soft butter
2 eggs
3 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. chopped nuts

Bring the apple cider to a boil and pour over the dates. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs and mix thoroughly. Sift together the flour, soda and salt; add to the creamed mixture alternately with vanilla and cider-date mixture. Add nuts.

Grease and flour two bread pans and divide dough equally between them. Bake in 275 degree oven for 1 hour and 45 minutes. While still warm, wrap in waxed paper and then a clean tea towel.
