DATE-NUT BREAD 
1 (8 oz.) pkg. dates
1 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. sugar
Pinch of salt
2 eggs
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
4 tbsp. soft butter

Cut up dates; sprinkle baking soda over dates. Pour boiling water over this; set aside to cool. Cream butter; add sugar, then eggs, one at a time. Add date mixture to creamed mixture, using only a large spoon; add walnuts. Lastly, add flour and salt and mix only to blend; add vanilla. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.
