“AUNT FAYE'S CHICKEN & DUMPLINGS” IS IN:

AUNT FAYE'S CHICKEN & DUMPLINGS
3 to 4 boneless chicken breasts

Boil chicken breast until done (about 20 minutes). While chicken is boiling, prepare dumplings.

Dumplings:

2 cans refrigerator biscuits (butter style)
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 tbsp. butter
3 bouillon cubes
1 tsp. garlic salt (optional)

Roll out biscuits on a work surface sprinkled with flour. Make them as flat at you can and check that they have a light coating of flour. Set them aside.

When chicken is done, remove from pan and set aside to cool, saving the water in the pot that the chicken was cooked in. Skim any foam off the surface; you want to make sure you have a good bit of water in the pot, about 3/4 full. If water has boiled off, then just add more.

Bring to a boil and add soup, butter, bouillon cubes and garlic salt (if desired). Stir well

Over medium high heat, begin adding biscuit "dumplings". Tear them into quarter size pieces and drop into the boiling water.

Hint: The less you stir the better they are, so after you add all of them, reduce the heat to medium setting, stirring only occasionally. Add chicken back into pot, tearing into small pieces. Cook until the dumplings are soft; this usually takes 30 to 45 minutes. I promise these are the best dumplings you will ever eat!. Enjoy!

I've used this recipe for years. But instead of chicken soup, use one jar of Heintz chicken gravy and a can of chicken broth instead of cubes. Add broth to the water the chicken was cooked in, then the biscuits, and after they are done, add the chicken gravy. Skip the garlic salt.

Hi there-plan on making these this weekend, when you say can butter biscuits - you mean like a Pillsbury brand or something? Also when you say roll them out - aren't they already separated in the can or is there another brand that they come just like a can of butter dough? I just want to be sure this will be as accurate to chicken & dumplings as possible - never made them before & I know my husband LOVES them! So he should be shocked when I cook up a pot of this yummy recipe.

I used a can of chicken broth instead of bouillon cubes, I also added celery, onion, & bell pepper while I boiled the chicken. Taste just like my Granny used to make!!!! AUNT FAYE HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD WITH THIS ONE!!!! I will be making this more often. It was also a fairly quick recipe. :) ALL SMILES :)

Nice recipe. I used a whole fryer chicken (about 4 lbs) instead of the breasts, chopped one onion in while boiling the chicken...the base is super-flavorful and since the onions turn clear, no onion-haters will even know they are there. GREAT recipe!
