“AUNT FAYE'S CHICKEN & DUMPLINGS” IS IN:

AUNT FAYE'S CHICKEN & DUMPLINGS
3 to 4 boneless chicken breasts

Boil chicken breast until done (about 20 minutes). While chicken is boiling, prepare dumplings.

Dumplings:

2 cans refrigerator biscuits (butter style)
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 tbsp. butter
3 bouillon cubes
1 tsp. garlic salt (optional)

Roll out biscuits on a work surface sprinkled with flour. Make them as flat at you can and check that they have a light coating of flour. Set them aside.

When chicken is done, remove from pan and set aside to cool, saving the water in the pot that the chicken was cooked in. Skim any foam off the surface; you want to make sure you have a good bit of water in the pot, about 3/4 full. If water has boiled off, then just add more.

Bring to a boil and add soup, butter, bouillon cubes and garlic salt (if desired). Stir well

Over medium high heat, begin adding biscuit "dumplings". Tear them into quarter size pieces and drop into the boiling water.

Hint: The less you stir the better they are, so after you add all of them, reduce the heat to medium setting, stirring only occasionally. Add chicken back into pot, tearing into small pieces. Cook until the dumplings are soft; this usually takes 30 to 45 minutes. I promise these are the best dumplings you will ever eat!. Enjoy!

We just tried this recipe for the first time tonight, the reviews are right. It is amazing!!! I added carrots, celery, and onions to make it a meal, but the flavor is outstanding and it is just as easy as it seems. Thank you Debbie for a great recipe!

My maternal grandmother used to make Chicken and Dumplings when I was little. She passed away in 1987, and I've missed her cooking. I will definitely try this recipe. I appreciate that you use BS chicken breasts ~ no bones about it!

I loved this recipe. However, I added a little too much water and ended up with too much broth but it tasted really, really good. I loved the dumplings. I will make this again but with a little less water the second time around. Thank you Aunt Faye!

I have always used canned biscuits in my chicken & dumplings. It's something that has been passed down in our family for generations (well as long as there has been canned biscuits). They are awesome. I always wondered if anyone else did this. Good to know I am not the only one.

I made this tonight and my whole family loved it! My six year old said he didn't like chicken and dumplings at school but this was awesome! I thought that I had too many dumplings so I didn't put them all in and next time I will because I found that you can use the two full cans and it makes it perfect.

What did I do wrong? I followed the directions but ended up with a pot of chicken and gravy. My biscuits virtually disappeared. I used Pillsbury refrigerated country style biscuits. Are these the wrong kind? Anyway other than having no dumplings... chicken and gravy came out very tasty! Maybe I rolled them out too thin. I just baked another can of biscuits and told my boys it was chicken stew. Ha Ha they liked it just fine. Oh well better luck to me next time. I will try again.

I smashed the grands biscuits down and pat flour on both sides of them, then I cut them into little 1 inch squares with a pizza cutter. I repack them with flour so that the sides of them are not doughy. That way the dough does not get out. The flour creates like a barrier to keep it as a rectangular dough ball. Drop them all in and let them float back up to the top and just don't touch them, don't stir them or anything for about 30 or 40 minutes and they will make the best dumplings you ever ate! They will be kind of like the green us on the outside but be like cooked bread on the inside. Don't stir them or touch them or anything for 30 minutes.
