2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powdered
1/2 tsp. salt
2 oz. bitter chocolate
4 tbsp. butter
1 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts, if desired

Sift dry ingredients into a bowl. Melt chocolate and butter, add milk and vanilla. Stir into dry ingredients and put in well greased dish 9 x 13.

4 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar

Put on top of batter as evenly as possible. Pour 2 cups boiling water over it. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
