1 c. butter
2/3 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter and sugar; add egg and vanilla. In separate bowl combine flour and salt; then mix with egg, butter, sugar mixture. Chill dough for 3 hours. Heat oven to 350 degrees. On floured surface roll dough to 1/8 inch thick. Cut into shapes and bake on greased cookie sheet for 8 minutes.
