CARAMEL-OAT BARS 
2 c. oats
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. melted butter
1/4 c. dark corn syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix oats, sugar, butter, corn syrup, vanilla, and salt. Spread in greased baking pan, 9 x 9 x 2 inches. Bake until bubbly, about 8 minutes. Immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips. Let stand until soft, spread evenly. Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired. Refrigerate at least one hour. Cut into bars. Store in refrigerator.
