SUGAR COOKIES | |
1 c. butter 1 c. powdered sugar 1 c. granulated sugar 1 c. vegetable oil 2 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla 4 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cream of tartar Cream butter and both sugars. Add oil and blend well. Add vanilla and eggs. Sift dry ingredients. Stir in and blend by hand. Shape in soft balls then roll in granulated sugar and put on lightly greased cookie sheet. Press each ball with bottom of glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. NOTE: I usually cut a piece of waxed paper the length of cookie sheet and place on cookie dough balls and then press with bottom of glass then sprinkle regular sugar or colored sugars on top - press sugar in cookie before baking to keep from coming off. If flour is already pre-sifted - do not sift. Christmas - red and green sugars are nice. Easter - pastel colored decorations. |
