ROLLED COOKIES | |
1/3 c. butter 1/3 c. sugar 1/4 c. egg substitute, thawed if frozen 2/3 c. honey 1 tsp. vanilla 2 3/4 c. unbleached all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt Cream butter, sugar, egg substitute, honey and vanilla thoroughly. In another bowl, combine flour, soda and salt. Blend into the creamed mixture. Chill dough several hours or overnight. When you are ready to bake, heat oven to 375 degrees. Roll dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes. Place 1 inch apart on a cookie sheet sprayed lightly with non-stick vegetable spray. Don't forget the strings. Decorate with Egg Yolk Paint. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Do not brown too much or the paint will change color unattractively. Makes 5 dozen cookies. EGG YOLK PAINT: Blend 1 egg yolk with 1/4 teaspoon water. Add food coloring. Remember that the yellow in egg yolks affects the color of the paint. If the paint gets too thick, add a little more water. |
