2 c. granulated sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. milk
6 to 8 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream together sugar and shortening, add eggs. Beat thoroughly. Dissolve baking soda in milk, sift together flour and baking powder. Add vanilla. Mix and roll out on floured board, cut out and paint. Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

PAINT:

2 egg yolks
2 tbsp. water

Mix and separate into 5 bowls and add food coloring, use paint (artist brush) to paint cookies.
