FLOUR TORTILLAS 
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
3 tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. warm water

In medium bowl hand mix the flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening until it is completely mixed. Slowly add warm water while mixing. Mix until the dough can be gathered into a ball (if needed add more water or if too sticky add a little more flour). Knead dough until it is smooth and elastic. Let dough rest 15 minutes.

Divide dough and shape into balls. On a lightly floured surface roll each ball into a thin circle. Cook on ungreased skillet over medium heat. Cook lightly on first side, turn completely, cook second side. Then turn back to first side and finish cooking (turn a total of 2 times). Serve hot, with butter if desired.
