3/4 c. shortening (Crisco)
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
3 1/2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar together; add eggs. Sift dry ingredients together, then add milk and vanilla; mix well. Roll out dough 1/4 inch thick. Cut with round cutter. Place on cookie sheet. Brush top of cookie with egg white. Add raisins or nuts or dates or prunes chocolate chips. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.

DATE FILLING:

1 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 c. raisins
1 c. pitted dates
15 candied cherries

For filling or could cook together 2 cookies (press ends together) with filling.
