MILDRED BELL'S CARAMEL CORN | |
6 qts. popcorn 1 lb. light brown sugar 3/4 c. white sugar (granulated) 1 1/2 c. white corn syrup 1/2 c. water 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. butter This recipe coats 6 quarts of popped popcorn. (Note: 1 cup of corn yields 5 cups after it is popped.) Mix 1 pound light brown sugar, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, 1 1/2 cups white corn syrup and 1/2 cup water. Boil until hard ball (in water). Add 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 2 teaspoons butter and 1 full teaspoon baking soda. Pour, stir and coat popcorn. Delish - from my dear fried of almost 80 years! Thank you! |
