GRANDMA'S WHITE BREAD | |
8 c. warm water 1 tbsp. salt 2 pkgs. yeast dissolved in 1 c. warm water 3/4 c. sugar 1 lg. mixing spoon of lard 16 - 18 c. flour or enough to handle dough Mix all ingredients. Let the dough rise to double in size, punch down and let rise again. Punch down a second time and let rise again. Shape into buns or loaves of bread and let rise. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes for bread, 30 to 35 minutes for buns. This makes a very large batch of bread. Ideal for bake sales. The secret to good bread is to always keep the dough warm as a tiny baby. |
