WAIKIKI MEATBALLS | |
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef 1/3 c. onion 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. milk 2/3 c. cracker crumbs 1 egg 1/4 tsp. ginger 1 tbsp. shortening SAUCE: 2 tbsp. cornstarch 1 (13 1/2 oz.) can pineapple tidbits, drained (save juice) 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/3 c. vinegar 1 tbsp. soy sauce Mix meat, crumbs, egg, onion, salt, ginger, and milk. Shape into balls (tablespoonfuls). Melt shortening in skillet; brown and cook meatballs. Remove meatballs. Pour off fat. Mix cornstarch and sugar. Stir in pineapple syrup, vinegar, and soy sauce. Pour into skillet and cook until thickened and it boils. Boil and stir one minute. Add meat and pineapple. |
