1 c. plus 2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
6 tbsp. granulated sugar
6 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. water
1 egg
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Sift flour, salt and soda. Blend butter, vanilla, sugar and water. Beat in egg and add flour mixture and mix well. Stir in walnuts. Spread in greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over clear batter.

Place in oven at 375 degrees for 1-3 minutes. Remove from oven and run knife through to marbelize. Decorate with walnut halves. Return to oven. Bake 10-12 minutes. Cut in 2 inch squares while warm. Makes 2 dozen.
