I have been making these since I was a little girl and I am now 65. We always called them "boiled cookies". Instead of using squares of chocolate, we use cocoa powder. The box tells you how to substitute.

You can also 1/2 the recipe and add any dry cereal in place of the oatmeal. Also you can put in mini marshmallows at the last second. Our family calls them no bakes. Also you can make them without the cocoa and add vanilla.

We make these all the time. I use cocoa powder and coconut. They are called "Chocolate Haystacks"!!! Chunky peanut butter added makes them a little creamier. All good stuff!!!
