4 sqs. unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. milk
1 heaping tbsp. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
3 tbsp. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 box confectioners sugar

Melt 2 squares unsweetened chocolate in 1/2 cup milk. Add 1 heaping tablespoon shortening, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 1/2 cups flour; mix well. Dissolve 1 teaspoon baking soda in 3 tablespoons hot water. Add to another 1/2 cup milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Add to first mixture. Bake in 9 x 13 inch cake pan at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Cool. Mix one box of confectioners sugar for butter frosting. Spread on baked mixture. Melt 2 squares chocolate with 1 tablespoon butter. Spread on frosting.
