CRACKLY GINGERSNAPS 
Cream:

3/4 c. soft shortening
1 c. sugar

Add:

1/4 c. syrup
1 egg

Beat well. Stir into creamed mixture:

2 1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cloves

Chill. Roll into balls. Dip into cold water then sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes on greased baking sheet.
