SERBIAN "CUT OUT" COOKIES 
1 lb. sweet butter
6 egg yolks, save whites
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. sour cream
Grated lemon, lemon juice
6 c. flour

Cream butter until light and fluffy then cream yolks. Add sugar, baking powder, sour cream, lemon rind and lemon juice and add to butter. Add a cup of flour at a time, to above mixture, working dough until dough is clean of flour. Do not knead this dough. Roll it back and forth until it clean.

Beat egg whites until stiff. Take portions of dough and roll out 1/4 inch thick. Cut cookies with cookie cutter. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Spread whites on each cookie, then sprinkle finely ground walnuts over whites. Bake cookies in preheated 350 degree oven for 10 minutes. When done cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Cookies can be frozen but do not put powdered sugar on if freezing.
