WHOOPIE PIES 
6 tbsp. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1/4 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
5 tbsp. cocoa

Cream shortening, sugar, egg, milk, salt and vanilla together. Blend flour, baking soda and cocoa and add to cream mixture. Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 7 minutes.

COOKED FILLING:

1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cook milk and flour on stove until thick. Cool. Add sugar, shortening, butter and vanilla. Beat at high speed until creamy.

UNCOOKED FILLING:

1/2 c. shortening
1 c. confectioners' sugar
2 1/2 tbsp. flour
1/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 or 4 tbsp. marshmallow

Cream ingredients together. Frost flat side of Whoopie Pie, cover with flat side of second pie. Wrap individually.
