TEEN MA-OUD (FIG PRESERVES) 
4 lb. dried figs (choose, fresh and moist)
1 lb. sugar
3 tbsp. anise seed, ground
2 c. chopped walnuts
1 tbsp. mastic gum, (miskey), mashed

Cut figs into small pieces, remove stems. Place figs in cooking pot and add water to barely cover figs. Simmer slowly. Add anise, cook until figs are tender and most of the water has been absorbed. Stir very frequently. When water has all evaporated, add walnuts. Cool and put into sterile jars.
